A lifetime of concern and a love for the sea.
Trialing new engineering concepts, gathering data, and raising awareness to help protect the future of our marine world.
My name is Wayne Peters, I am a yachtsman, environmentalist and engineer. With my partner Anne-Flore and Jay our collie we live completely off grid on the foothills of Exmoor National Park in North Devon.
A profound experience with the remarkable Emily Penn in 2019 when I was asked to help prepare her research yacht for eXXpedition, the world circumnavigation to study ocean plastic, and following the conversion of my own sailboats from diesel to electric, it was clear, much more needed to be done to raise the profile of ocean conservation.
So in early 2020 I started the North Devon Marine project. Based from within the North Devon Biosphere Reserve, with a reach across to South Wales and the South West of England, we are providing real world feedback, improved access to the latest technology and a focal point for research and development.
With a group of like minded friends and colleagues, and partnering with leading organisations and academia, the North Devon Marine project is addressing the oceans most pressing issues and accelerating the roadmap to net zero.
