The North Devon Marine Project
Our planet is roughly 70% covered with water, our ocean and the life within are the key to maintaining a healthy climate, we must do all we can to preserve and restore our natural world with positive action on land and at sea.
Our aim is to influence the shift towards net zero. In order to meet the 1.5°C global warming target in the Paris Agreement, global carbon emissions should reach net zero around mid-century. For developed nations such as the UK, the date will need to be much earlier.
Our mission is to significantly reduce the impact we have on marine life by increasing ocean literacy.

Based a few miles from Ilfracombe, we are proud to have partnered with the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. From the highlands of Dartmoor and Exmoor, down the river valleys to the sea and beyond Lundy, the North Devon Biosphere is one of 668 Reserves in 122 countries designated by UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme and was the first of 6 to be designated in the UK.
The designation secures a better future by linking people and nature today. The waters that lie within the reserve is the focus area for our research and development program for net zero maritime.
Sailing from bases in Plymouth, Falmouth and North Devon, we are ocean advocates, researching and testing, sharing our findings and keeping watch. Through events and demonstrations we are encouraging the shift towards a more sustainable environment on land and at sea.
Sailing the South West and Bristol Channel, we provide real world insight for operators to take that vital step towards net zero. Working alongside our partners for clean power and propulsion, we are demonstrating new engineering, reducing impact in boating on all vessel types.
If you'd like to come and say hello please do, we love to talk about our work! you can find us in North Devon, Plymouth and Falmouth
